The “debutante,” as she is called, is French word meaning a “female beginner,” a new adult, a young lady who has reached the age of maturity. She is being introduced into society and into a world of civic responsibility and social awareness.
In Australia, girls from the ages of 11-12 years old take part of the debutante ball hosted by their schools. While in the United States, the debutante ball is a formal presentation of young ladies, typically hosted by a charity or society. The ladies introduced can vary from the ages 16 to 21. These are often portrayed in the movies as their coming out party or sweet 16.
In the Philippines, when a young Filipina turns 18, we celebrate a debut. It is usually highlighted by a grand cotillion dance; the 18 roses given by 18 men, the 18 candles given by women and the 18 treasures or gifts. These traditions make celebrating debuts in the Philippine meaningful and very memorable.
The Creative Stills would like to share to you a very tradition, simple and classy debut in the Philippines. So I think it would be safe to say that we would like to introduce to society this elegant young lady, Kaela Maxino.
